Bince writing you on the above subject in ours of the 26th inst. Ref. A.M.N./9 we have received a telegram from our Japanese friends reading as follows: -

*CONFIRM IMMEDIATELY OTHERWISE ORDERED AMERICA".

It is obvicus from this that unless we can confirm to these friends immediately that we are proceeding with the alter- nator in question the order will be placed with an American firm.

In view of the fact that as pointed out in ours of the 26th inst. already referred to, we are given to understand that other British firms have been supplying electrical machinery to the Biemens China Electrical Engineering Co. we should, of course,: not like this business to go past us. We are, of course, entirely in your hands in this matter, and seeing the situation has become somewhat more acute we this morning wired you as follows/
